Susan Barrett, Evening Custodian. Ms. Barrett ran her own residential and commercial cleaning business for twenty years. She also recently worked for four years as a sales representative for Keye Distributors. She and her husband raised four sons and a daughter in Barnstead, and now she is a grandmother of three. She enjoys gardening in her spare time.
Kristina Carver, Library Coordinator. Ms. Carver has worked as an ELL (English Language Learner) tutor, a long-term substitute teacher, a substitute teacher, and a daycare teacher. She has professional credentials in Reading, ELL, English, and Early Childhood Education. Her Bachelor?s degree is from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Ohio and her Master?s degree from Western Governors University in Utah. Ms. Carver lives in Manchester where she enjoys walking her dog, Yoga, and playing soccer.
Lenore Coombs, Kindergarten Teacher. Mrs. Coombs taught kindergarten at Beech Street Elementary School in the Manchester School District for one year. She also taught first grade and worked in Title 1 in the same school. In Manchester she worked with a wide range of children and families, including many immigrant families learning English. She earned a Bachelor?s degree in Chemistry from the University of New Hampshire and a degree in Early Childhood Education from Southern New Hampshire University. Prior to becoming a teacher, Ms. Coombs worked as an analytical chemist for 17 years. A mother of three adult children, Ms. Coombs lives in Manchester with her husband. She has a horse named Findi. In her spare time she gardens, quilts, and reads extensively.
Brian Donohue, Physical Education. Mr. Donohue, a 2009 graduate of Plymouth State University, has taught elementary physical education for three years, working between Bakersville and Hallsville Elementary Schools in Manchester. He taught over 600 children weekly. He coached the Hallsville Fire Muster Team, and as a coach led the Hallsville Elementary School boys basketball team to a city championship. Mr. Donohue likes to integrate mathematics and reading into physical education. On his own time Mr. Donohue enjoys kayaking, biking, basketball, and walking his yellow Labrador retriever, Abby. He is engaged to be married in the summer of 2013.
Valerie Cray, Grade 6 Educational Assistant. Ms. Cray grew up in Pittsfield is a third-generation graduate of Pittsfield High School. She and her father serve on the alumni association. For the last two years she worked in the Special Education Department at Pittsfield Middle High School. She previously coached girls basketball with the Concord Parks and Recreation program.
Melissa Heath, RN, District Nurse. Ms. Heath worked in the manufacturing industry as a sales person, buyer and Director of Customer Relations, for seventeen years prior to returning to school in 2007 to earn her credential as a Registered Nurse at NHTI and begin a new career as a school nurse. In her nursing training she gained clinical experience in pediatrics, mental health, maternity, and geriatrics. Ms. Heath lives a busy life in Wolfeboro with her husband and three children, ages 15, 12, and 13. She enjoys time with her family and her dog, as well as time cooking, reading, and relaxing by the ocean.
Kerry Hughes, K-1 Special Education Case Manager. Ms. Hughes, who grew up in Portsmouth, NH, is a 2010 graduate of New England College, where she earned her Bachelor?s degree and credentials in both Special Education and Elementary Education. For the last two years she worked at Bow Elementary School, for her first year as an educational assistant and for her second as a grade 1 special education case manager. She is also a certified dance-fitness instructor and zumba teacher. In her childhood and youth she competed at the national level as a figure skater. She enjoys the beach and early-morning walks.
Nora Jones, Grade-Two Special Education Case Manager. In May, 2012, Ms. Jones earned her Master?s degree in Special Education from Plymouth State University. She did a practicum at Alton Central School. She earned her Bachelor?s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Maine in Orono. She worked as a camp counselor at Stowe Recreation in Stowe, Vermont, where she counseled children from all over the world. Ms. Jones is a serious tri-athlete who works out six days a week. Her strongest leg of the triathlon is running.
Ross Morse, District Community Liaison. Mr. Morse currently works as the Managing Editor of The Suncook Valley Sun newspaper based in Pittsfield. His new role as District Community Liaison is a part-time position funded by the District Levels System Change grant from the Nellie Mae Education Foundation. Mr. Morse is a graduate of Pittsfield High School and Emerson College, Boston, MA. He graduated Emerson with a BA in Public Relations and Advertising. He lives in Pittsfield with his wife and two children who attend PES. In his spare time he enjoys music and sports.
Bernadette Rowley, Grade Three Classroom Teacher. Ms. Rowley started her career in business working in marketing and accounts management for five years. She earned a Bachelor?s degree in marketing in2002 and returned to school at Franklin Pierce University to earn her Master?s degree in Elementary Education. Most recently she worked as a gradeone teacher and a grade three and four long-term substitute teacher at the Pleasant Street Elementary School in Laconia. She and her husband live in Gilford where they stay busy raising three children, ages 2, 6, and 7.
Heather Tufts, Pre-K & K Educational Assistant. Ms. Tufts graduated from NHTI in Concord in May, 2008, with a degree in General Studies and a certificate in Special Education. In 2010 she went back to NHTI and earned 10 early-childhood education credits. She moved to Pittsfield with her family in June, 2011, and she lives on a farm with two horses, a cow, nine rabbits, six cats, two dogs, and several chickens and Guinea hens. She most recently worked for Pittsfield Head Start from February 2012 to June 2012, and she looks forward to working in the PES preschool and kindergarten.
Pam Williams, Speech Pathologist. Ms. Williams worked as an electro-mechanical draftsman for ten years and then returned to school to school at the University of New Hampshire in Durham to earn her Bachelor?s degree in Psychology and her Master?s degree in Speech and Communications Disorders. She has worked with children at the Monarch School in Rochester, the Strafford Learning Center in Somersworth and in other settings in Maine and New Hampshire. She lived in Barrington for 25 years where she served on the school board, drove a school bus, and raised two children. She recently moved back to central New Hampshire to be near her children and granddaughter.
